The wellbeing experiences we loved in Yorkshire in December
As we did set a good resolution to share with you our best wellbeing experiences in Leeds and Yorkshire – and started it even before the New Year with our November selection – we continue today! In this blog article, you will find a selection of wellbeing experiences we enjoyed and would invite you to try as soon as possible!
Before Christmas, we discovered and enjoyed three wellbeing initiatives from various fields, all Yorkshire-based, and all full of positive vibes! Here they are:
Yoga at the Museum with Lucyoga: Lucy teaches Dru Yoga, and not just anywhere, but at the museum! Once a month, she turns the beautiful main room of Leeds City Museum into a yoga studio over lunchtime, as well as a room at Leeds Tetley, full of light, on a Saturday morning. ‘Dru Yoga helps relieve the pressures of modern living’ as Lucy uses to say. Dru Yoga is rooted in Hatha Yoga, but is all about slowing down and taking time for yourself, relaxing and building strength through slow movements. It is also called ‘No Stress Yoga’ and now we understand why! We felt wonderfully relaxed after the sessions (we tried both, at Leeds City Museum and at Leeds Tetley!) and highly recommend a Dru Yoga session for all of you: Dru Yoga is suitable for all ages, abilities, shapes and sizes! Just make sure you book way in advance, sessions are usually fully booked! > Here to book < > If you are a corporate organisation, Dru Yoga can be implemented in your workplace as well!
Music Inspirations by Ruth: Last month, we visited Music Inspirations Centre and met Ruth Douglas. We discovered a beautifully refurbished room in Chapertown Entreprise Centre, were we instantly felt comfortable! Ruth and her passionate team teach various music lessons to children (groups and individuals, over lunch, after school or during holidays). Music Inspirations’ goal is to teach music “in a way that enables all children of all ages to be engaged, to enjoy and, most importantly, to learn music skills”. We love their Mantra: “Music can be found in the very heart of everything and everyone”! The Centre is not only for music workshops though, Ruth is running various personal development and wellbeing sessions throughout the year (crafting, singing…). We are looking forward to the sessions to come in 2018! > Here to Music Inspirations’ website <
Crafting and Gratitude at Leeds Mindful Employer Network’s Christmas Event: Mindful Employer Network’s members must sign the charter and commit to enhance the mental wellbeing of their staff. Members meet quarterly to share best practices and testimonials around wellbeing in the workplace. We took part to their last gathering, their Christmas Event hosted by Eversheds Sutherland in Leeds. It felt great to be in a room full of people committed towards wellbeing in their workplace! We had been invited to introduce Mind It’s story and lead a crafting workshop – we invited everyone to make a paper Christmas tree, and we were very happy to notice great team work and creativity all along the workshop. We added some gratitude to
